Wake up!

Wake up with an urge and a fire to do whatever it is that drives you. Take the time to figure it out-what motivates you? What can’t you stop thinking about? What pulls your attention when you’re focusing on the thing that kinda holds your interest? What are you always talking about, daydreaming about, journaling about? 

Stop blaming the choices that you’ve made and saying that’s the reason you are where you are. We ALL have those. So what? 

Some of us decide to quit bitching and start doing. And you can start at any moment. Whatever the fuck you want, you can have. But you have to want it. And you have to eat, sleep, breathe it. No excuses. 

Think about it.

“Are you tired?”…NO!

For years when I’ve trained people (and I’ve even noticed this in normal everyday interactions), I’ll greet someone and ask how they are doing and their response is “Tired”.

One of the fastest ways to feel tired is to say you’re tired. So stop it!

If you are feeling low energy: Do some things to bring you back into energy!

My faves:

  • Exercise! Even if it’s a minute of jumping jacks…get your blood pumping.
  • Drink some water. Ice cold. Shock yourself back into the present.
  • Take a power nap. 15-30 minutes tops. Don’t over do it or you’ll feel even more groggy afterwards. Unless you’ve been sleep deprived-then try to catch up. More importantly, try to get the same amount of full sleep every night.
  • Meditate for 5-10 minutes. You don’t even need to close your eyes. Just sit still and comfortably. Breathe deeply and find peace.
  • Pranayama-yoga breathing. Full, deep breaths for approx. 5 seconds in and 5 seconds out. Maximum capacity of the lungs, slowly.
  • Step outside-stand in the sun! Vitamin D. Be like a lizard and let the sun do its thang! โ˜€๏ธ
  • A cup of hot green tea. REAL green tea. No sugar. Honey if you need some sweetness.
  • Play with your pet. Nothing beats feeling tired like a walk with your pup or a game of catch.
  • Laugh. Watch a comedy special, a comedy podcast, go to your friend or coworker who is great at jokes (there’s always one!) and get a good laugh in.
  • Duh! DANCE PARTY! Put on your fave song and rock out (stay safe if you’re driving ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜‚) or go full out at home or in your office. If someone sees you, say “You’re welcome! Next time, I charge you! ๐Ÿ˜‚”.

Try a few or all of them next time you find you’re struggling with your day!

Push Yourself

Sometimes people stick to what is comfortable because trying something new can be scary. Push yourself: I try to live in this zone. At the end of the day, I don’t want to look back and think, “Wow, today I was so comfortable and everything felt the same”. 

Boo. No thanks.

At the end of the day, I want to feel challenged, pushed and as though I learned something new-about my abilities, myself or a new outlook. 

Cross train so that you are ready for anything: Zombies, bad guys or simply…life. When we are physically equipped to handle stress and the ability to move the body (in a healthy, strong way) we feel tougher and can handle more! Why wouldn’t you want that?! ๐Ÿค”

So, gym time is not just gym time. It’s YOU time…Meditation time…goal setting time…stress relieving time. 

Go. Push yourself. 

  

Workout Wednesday for December!

We have one month left of 2015!!! 

Time to kill it and wrap it up, peeps!

I do this circuit with my students and we use a S.T.E.P platform w/ 3 risers on each side, body bar and mat. After 1 minute at each exercise, we run a lap around the class room (after EACH listed exercise). 

*If working out at home/ofc, run (in place or around house/complex/ofc) for another 1 minute. Repeat 2-3x.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! 

During the few days I had “off”, I unplugged from most of my social media to really focus on paying attention to: being fully present. 

It’s so easy nowadays to lose these amazing moments that happen everyday because we want to snap it or post it. And yes, while we will now have a photo or image…we have lost a percentage of the actual moment and the important feelings, sensations and connections attached to these memories. 

Over the years I’ve lost many photos, but the memories in my mind are always a photo album I can refer to whenever my little heart desires. 

Don’t miss out on the present, while trying to post. ๐Ÿ’ฏ. 

Workout Wednesday 11/25/15

Make sure you are finding time to meditate, workout, stretch and rest. It’s a balancing act, but once you’ve found your groove, you will be unstoppable. Keep going until then…You got this!  

 

Sometimes you just have to start. 

And take it from there. 

  

Werk 11/11/15

Workouts don’t have to feeeeeel like work necessarily…well, you don’t have to hate it. My favorite things are dance, yoga and circuits…so those are usually the workouts I do. If you have no idea what you like, play! Get out there and see what works for you-makes you get up and WANT to do it-and then do it daily! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ
