I can’t quite remember what I was describing here, but it was during my master class at SDSU with @sdsudivisionofdance in March so I know (anytime I’m clutching my heart) I was talking about dance emotion or storytelling.
These photos by @donnie_nicholson_photography capture me dancing, teaching dance and choreography…Something I’ve wanted to do since I was a kid choreographing to Toni Basil’s “Hey Mickey” on a .45 record in my parents house in New York. I asked my mom to watch the dances I created and she always did. Always.
On this #happyinternationaldanceday I was able to mc for my dancers at ArtWalk, share a favorite piece of choreo with the public and support my dancers during their performance. I have worked extremely hard to get to where I am and not a day goes by where I take it lightly. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about how fortunate I am for being able to dance, share my gift (Yes. I own that) and teach. These photos capture all of this and I am so thankful ✨
